Word and Deed Ministries
P.O. Box 2562 Shaker Hts. OH 44120

Dear Christian Friends,
What an opportunity we have in Liberia and Ghana West Africa right now.
As many of you know, I have traveled to Africa three times over the last five years. I have seen the Lord move in miraculous ways, and have come to know many evangelists and pastors personally. These are men and women who have been faithful to preach the gospel in their region and have taken seriously the words of Jesus, “… and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

On my last trip to Ghana, Isaac Afful and Isaac Kuranchie, two Ghanaian evangelists, took me to a village a couple of hours from the capital city. We preached the gospel and many of the people were saved, some healed and some delivered from evil spirits BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH! It has been the experience of these evangelists that the converts soon go back to their witch doctors and idol worship. They have never known anything else but this lifestyle. These precious people need regular teaching, Bibles and Christian literature in their own languages.

The Isaacs and many other ministers are ready and very willing to dedicate much of their time traveling into these villages to teach, train and establish churches, raising up other workers to go out and do the same.

The fields are ripe but without our help the nationals can not go forward
Please help! Please start today!

Expanding the work of “Word and Deed Ministries”, releasing men and women to fulfill their callings

Please pray about the possibility of helping to support what I believe the Lord has called me to do in Ghana, Liberia and Cuba. By faith (we can’t do anything without it) I traveled at the end of January to W. Africa for three and a half weeks. I enjoyed open air preaching, school ministry and so on. I was also seeking the Lord as to which of the godly men and women He would want us to start supporting.
Through monthly support from Word and Deed Ministries these leaders would be free to bring in the harvest. Pat and I have been sending financial support to West Africa since our first visit and also to evangelists and a Pastor in Cuba. We feel it is time to do this through Word and Deed Ministries. I would like to tell you about Jalla for example, one of the many men who needs our support. Jalla is a born again, Spirit filled man of high morals. He is a man whom the Lord used to bring his villages from the interior during the war in Liberia to the relative safety of the capital city of Monrovia. He then became the director of one of the displaced people’s camps, caring for many, many people, while also helping to pastor a church in the camp. Four years ago, Jalla, his wife and children insisted on giving up their bed and make shift home, squeezing into a small room on the side, in order for Pat and I to have a roof over our heads (though it be plastic) to minister and stay in the camp a couple of nights a week. Now that the United Nations have stopped providing sacks of rice and the camps have been disbanded, Jalla and his wife work from early morning to late at night to bring in enough money to feed their family. With a little help from people like us, people like Jalla and his wife could be more effective in bringing the ripened harvest of souls into the Kingdom of God. If I had time, I would like to tell you about Isaac and Henry in Ghana, Eric, Marcia and Cecilia in Cuba. These are men and women who are in very difficult circumstances and abject poverty. They continue to serve the Lord, always rejoicing in God’s goodness, evangelizing the lost and encouraging the body of Christ.

An open door into Cuba
I found out recently that as a British citizen, the travel restrictions set up as part of the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba, do not apply to me. I am able to legally send money to Cuba and travel back and forth any time. This is such an answer to prayer! I am in contact with a number of Cuban pastors and evangelists who have become personal friends over the years. Since the hurricanes, things are much worse and they are e-mailing me for help. They are in need of everything but are asking for Bibles, tracts, medicines, shoes, clothing and money for food for themselves, their congregations and others. I have sent what I can, and now I’m asking my friends and those who have God’s heart for the poor to have compassion on the Cuban Christians in their time of serious need. I plan to commute at the end of April, taking supplies they are not able to get even if they had the money, but until then please would you bless these hard hit Christians with financial help?
